What is EMENY?

eMpTy Music Edition NY is a music publishing house dedicated to the works of Argentine, New York-based composer Marcelo Toledo. All scores are original manuscripts, with few works digitally transcribed. The catalog includes 40 works for solo instruments, duos, trios, quartets, quintets, septets, nonets, and ensembles ranging from 10 to 24 musicians. There are also vocal works and a chamber opera for 10 musicians and 6 singers. All works have been premiered or performed at contemporary music festivals in Europe, United States, Asia and South America.

We hope this publishing initiative inspires others to create composer collectives to expose the contemporary music of Latin America to the world.

About Marcelo Toledo

Marcelo Toledo is an Argentine composer based in New York whose work explores the peripheries of sound and the possibilities of musical writing beyond conventional notation. His music emerges from an ongoing interaction between imagination, the body, the instrument, sound, and representation, allowing physical gesture, instrumental resistance, and writing itself to become generative forces in the compositional process.

His scores extend musical notation into a distinctive visual language of constellations, fields, lines, curves, and geometric trajectories, creating new relationships between the written page, the performer, and sound. His music has been performed throughout the Americas, Europe, and Asia by ensembles including Ensemble intercontemporain, Ensemble Recherche, Klangforum Wien, SWR Vokalensemble, Neue Vocalsolisten, Speculum Musicae, Continuum, and CEPROMUSIC. In 2026, Toledo received a Guggenheim Fellowship in Music Composition.
